I want to thank Salt Lake City, Hill Air Force Base and Utah Transit Authority for their outstanding support of public transportation options in general, and Hill AFB specifically. I live in Salt Lake and work at Hill, and for nearly 10 years have been making the 65-mile round trip by car. With the introduction of reduced-cost options and bus service to and from Hill, I finally have a viable alternative to plying I-15. I won’t say that my choice is without sacrifice: I wake up much earlier, and my commute time has doubled.
Obviously, economics is a motivator; however, so is having time to read the paper (the Trib, of course), avoiding my third major I-15 construction project and helping reduce air pollution. So whether you’re commuting five miles or 50, I encourage those working at Hill AFB to take advantage of the new bus service and reduced cost options now available on UTA.
