It's Saturday night, another night of little sleep. Last night, Friday night, it was 1 a.m. before it was quiet enough for anyone in our area to sleep. Rocky Mountain Raceways ran until after midnight, and then the usual racetrack engine rev up from the crowd going home.

I know, I know. I should have thought of that before I moved so close to the raceway. But I've lived here for 30 years and our house has not moved an inch closer in those 30 years. Rocky Mountain has gradually pushed back closing time until it is now after midnight. The cars are now so loud that we can no longer sit outside and visit, we have to go in and close all windows and doors in order to hear one another. There used to be noise ordinances in West Valley, but now that only holds true for private individuals. If you are a business, the rules don't apply.

There's a new subdivision being built even closer to the racetrack. I hope those potential buyers look in the summer and not in the winter, when the raceway is quiet.
