I follow the articles written by Don Gale with anticipation and reverence. His words are full of wise wisdom and he is never afraid to address the elephant in the room.
His opinion piece ("Tribune should go on; LDS scripture." June 1) is one of the most important writings coming from Mr. Gale. We all should take heed.
We are in dangerous territory when big money can buy newspapers to silence them. Our country was founded with the importance of a free and unencumbered press and we should never, ever, forget that.
To silence the Salt Lake Tribune's independent voice by filtering its content through a corporate board room would be yet another giant step toward creating a single-party state.
I find it interesting if not outright hypocritical that many who lamented most loudly about the evils of a one-party state i.e. The Soviet Union are hellbent on creating one here in Utah.
