Letter: Help bistro with zoning change
First Published May 22 2014 04:13 pm • Last Updated May 22 2014 04:13 pm

Because of a rather obscure technical problem with Salt Lake City’s current zoning ordinance for neighborhood restaurants, the Avenues Bistro on Third lost its patio dining last year, even though about six other such restaurants continue to keep their patios. Plans are in the works to correct this, with a proposed zoning regulation change. A public hearing is set for May 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the City-County Building.

Of all such quaint neighborhood restaurants, Avenues Bistro is exemplary with its quiet, homey neighborhood feel, lush backyard gardens, and its commitment to sustainability and local purchasing. I hope this injustice will soon be corrected and the Avenues Bistro can be placed back on an equal footing with our other neighborhood eateries.
