Letter: In politics, a plague on both their houses

In a letter published in the Public Forum May 9, Gary D. Ruiz said, "a Republican politician's definition of success is to hope the other side fails."

I've recently returned to Utah after 32 years working in Washington and environs. I agree with Mr. Parker's statement, but let's not be naïve. That definition is used on both sides of the aisle.

In the last three decades, I've seen enough of that kind of thinking that I feel like Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet" when, referring to the feuding families of the principal characters, he called for, "A plague on both their houses."
