Letter: Banning group from parade doesn’t end controversy

Re: "Mormons Building Bridges won’t be in Days of ’47 Parade" (Tribune, May 14).
Why shouldn’t there be a float in the parade for the LGBT community? The obvious answer is that there are no legitimate reasons. Parade directors say that they do not want any controversy to come from the appearance of a float that promotes gay acceptance, but by not having a float, there is already a controversial stigma brewing.
