Letter: Bible works, except when it doesn't

"The Bible works, so do what it says," preached Ann Romney to SUU graduates ("Ann Romney remembers Olympics, urges SUU grads to read Bible," Tribune, May 3).

Presumably, though, not precluding women from teaching, or wearing gold (1 Timothy 2:9-12). Presumably also, not beating your slaves (Exodus 21:21-22). Or killing gay lovers (Leviticus 20:13). Or snake handling and faith healing (Mark 16:18).

The Bible. It works. Except when it doesn't.
