Letter: Denying climate change won’t make it go away
First Published Apr 24 2014 02:54 pm • Last Updated Apr 24 2014 04:30 pm

Thank you, Kendra Houser, for your response to climate change denier Ronald Jones. I would respectfully offer this to Mr. Jones, and to all the other deniers, to seriously think about:

It is a fact that 97 percent of expert climate scientists agree that climate change is indeed very real, and very likely caused by human behavior. That’s 97 out of 100 experts.

Mr. Jones, if you went to see 100 cancer experts, and 97 of them told you that you do indeed have cancer, and that you require immediate surgery to have any chance to save your life — what would you do? Are you going to schedule that surgery — or are you instead going to put your trust in those 3 of 100 who say you don’t need that surgery?

Climate change is real, sir, and very serious. Denying it, just as would be not having that surgery, will not stop it nor make it go away.
