Letter: Single-payer health care is not comparable to sports cars for everyone
First Published Apr 14 2014 09:17 am • Last Updated Apr 14 2014 09:17 am

A double award goes to the writer of the Forum letter equating single-payer health insurance with a system for bestowing a Porsche on everyone: one for most obtuse thinking, another for demonstrating the lowest level of intellectual capacity ("Why not give everyone a Porsche as well as health care?" Forum, April 5).

It’s difficult to refrain from using the word "idiot" when referring to someone who thinks receiving health care is somehow equivalent to getting a luxury sports car. Let’s put it in as simple language as possible: People have died without adequate attention to medical needs; no one is harmed in any way if they never have a sports car.
