Utah unemployment at 3.9 percent? Whoa, Nelly! ("Utah unemployment rate hits a 5-year low," Tribune, March 8)

Does that include all the folks who were so thoughtfully dropped from the rolls after the congressional refusal to extend benefits to the long-term unemployed after Dec. 31, 2013? I doubt it.

So that number of 3.9 percent would seem to be extremely inaccurate, as I would think those folks are still looking for work; just not getting counted as doing so.

Re-extend unemployment benefits to them or figure out a way to count them, and let's see where unemployment really stands.
