There should be no reason these days to put down animals in shelters. But, why not take this further and ban puppy sales at all Utah pet stores? These poor canines most likely come from puppy mills that are packed with unhealthy "breeders" who live in tiny, cramped cages 24/7. The puppies sold at stores usually develop health problems and folks who buy them miss out on adopting a wonderful shelter animal.
Puppy mills, even those that are regulated, are still way out of date and treat their residents very poorly. One only has to look up various photos of them. Our next step in this state should be to do away with the selling of puppies and kittens in pet stores so our lovable shelter animals will receive a chance for a better life.
