Letter: Once again, Vietnam vets are ignored
First Published Apr 01 2014 01:01 am • Last Updated Apr 01 2014 02:23 pm

Imagine my non-surprise when in Sunday’s Tribune there was absolutely no mention of any kind about the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. Please note that I did not say "conflict."

Apparently nothing has changed in the public eye about the veterans of Vietnam and their great open-armed welcome home and appreciation of the sacrifices they gave during this terrible time in our nation’s history. It apparently was much more important and noteworthy to mention the colorful chalk-throwing in Utah County.

I, as other Vietnam Veterans, are proud of the service we were called upon by our country to do. Our ultimate reward when we returned home was the fact that we were alive. Unfortunately, well over 58,000 of our brothers in arms were not.

I want to welcome home all my brothers in arms. And thanks to all vets and current armed service members.
