Letter: Stewart tries wasting money counting prairie dogs
First Published Mar 29 2014 01:01 am • Last Updated Mar 29 2014 01:01 am

Rep Chris Stewart, a climate change denier who is in charge of the House Science Committee’s Subcommittee on Environment (a touch of irony), has just introduced a crucial and compelling piece of legislation: The Endangered Species Improvement Act.

It seems that Mr. Stewart is concerned that the appropriate government agencies are not accounting properly for the number of prairie dogs (formerly on the endangered species list) in existence. He believes they would be removed from the "threatened" list if we knew their true numbers.

His bill would permit counting them on private as well as public lands. By the way, Reps. Jason Chaffetz and Rob Bishop are cosponsors.

Our tax dollars at work on important issues.
