Alas, it's fundraising time again at local PBS affiliates KUED and KBYU. I know; it makes me sad, too.

I understand the need for fundraising, but what I can't fathom is why, in this two-week period, station managers forsake the very superior programming, which draws discerning viewers to PBS, in favor of mind numbingly dull tripe not aired at any other time of the year.

I love PBS. But a couple of times every year, I'm forced to abandon the oasis of public television and wander that vast wasteland of reality television.
