Gov. Gary Herbert and the Legislature are still fussing over whether, when and how much the state of Utah will finally force itself to take by expanding Medicaid, the program that provides health care coverage for the poor.

As well as how to launder the money through the same private, for-profit health insurance companies that have made the whole American health care system the shame of the civilized world.

Because Utah did not just accept the expanded Medicaid funding at the first of the year, we've already lost $8.7 million — and counting — that would have started by helping poor families and circulated through the Utah economy over and over.
