Compare events now unfolding in Ukraine with a similar situation in Berlin in 1961 ("Russia sets Ukraine agenda with diplomacy, threats," Tribune, March 4). Russian bully Khrushchev then, Russian bully Putin now. Weak, inexperienced Kennedy then; weak, inexperienced Obama now.
Khrushchev closed off the East German borders of West Berlin and got away with it; he then went to the next step, missiles in Cuba.
What will be next if Putin gets away with Ukraine?
