Letter: First Amendment protects right to offend
First Published Mar 02 2014 06:55 pm • Last Updated Mar 05 2014 11:11 am

Mac McIntire found Pat Bagley’s cartoon, "The meaning of Stand Your Ground," Feb. 17, not just offensive but "highly offensive" to the NRA ("Bagley’s NRA cartoon is offensive," Forum, Feb. 23).

Something like this should not be in the newspaper because of its inflammatory nature, he feels. However in a magnanamous conciliatory gesture, he’s willing to grant Mr. Bagley permission to discuss it with like-minded folks.

I suggest Mr. McIntire should obtain a copy of The Bill of Rights, read it, and then re-read the First Amendment.
