Letter: Bagley’s NRA cartoon is offensive
First Published Feb 23 2014 10:44 pm • Last Updated Feb 23 2014 10:44 pm

I find Pat Bagley’s editorial cartoon in the Tribune ("The meaning of Stand Your Ground," cartoon, Feb. 17) regarding the NRA to be highly offensive.

He seems to imply that members of the NRA are out hunting for people, particularly black men in hoodies. This is sensationalism at its worst! It promotes prejudices on many levels. It makes the broadbrush assumption that all members of an organization are bad because of the poor choices of an individual.

Such outright racial emotionalism and illogical reasoning ought to be left out of the paper and reserved for Mr. Bagley’s private conversations with those who might agree with his biases.
