Letter: Vehicles with poor gas mileage should pay more for pollution costs

In response to HB74 sponsored by Rep. Lowry Snow, I will gladly pay additional registration fees to help fund road maintenance as a result of my higher-gas-mileage vehicle paying fewer taxes at the pump ("Is charging alt-fuel drivers more good for roads or bad for the air? "Tribune, Feb. 7).
All I ask in return is that low-gas-mileage vehicles have higher registration fees to help pay for their share of related medical costs due to increased pollution.
