Letter: Rebuild prison on present site as high-rise
First Published Feb 15 2014 01:01 am • Last Updated Feb 15 2014 01:01 am

Great idea from Christine B. Helfrich in the Public Forum ("Don’t move prison, move refineries," Feb. 11) to move the refineries from the North Salt Lake-Bountiful area, and let the developers "have their way" with that eyesore and air pollution area.

Keep the prison right where it is on its 600+ acres and build multiple eight-story prison buildings on that site. If high-density land use is good for neighborhoods, it should be OK for incarcerated prisoners. Has the Prison Relocation Authority and Development committee even considered that option?
