I heard the U.S. Speaker of the House say that his caucus doesn't trust President Obama to enforce border security provisions, and therefore he will not discuss immigration this year ("Republicans blame Obama for stalling immigration," Tribune, Feb. 3).

They didn't seem to be bothered by George Bush appending "signing statements" to several laws, outlining the ways in which he would be ignoring or violating them as administration policy.

Are they ever going to allow President Obama to operate under the same rules as their (white) administrations have?
