Seeing as how important it was to hobnob with GOP political royalty at last week’s premiere of "Mitt" in Salt Lake City ("Mitt Romney documentary kicks off Sundance in Salt Lake City," Tribune, Jan. 17), and seeing as how important Utah’s marriage equality case is to everyone involved, I expected Gov. Gary Herbert to show up to Saturday’s screening of "The Case Against 8" to learn from Prop. 8 proponents’ legal mistakes ("It’s true because I read it on the Internet") and, perhaps, to even open his heart to the plight of same-sex couples in America.
Alas, he obviously had more important things to do.
