House Speaker Becky Lockhart on opening day of the Legislature made a fool of herself ("Legislature opens 45-day session with some sparks," Tribune, Jan. 27). This is what is wrong with our elected leaders. She and others want to give the millions from Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act to help our state's poor back to the federal government so other states can get more.

Our state leaders should be totally ashamed of themselves for the lack of compassion. After all they have very good health care, and why should they look out after someone else? Come on, elected officials, do your job for a change!
