More effective mass transit is needed to clean up our air. TRAX has proven to be a workhorse. I don’t fault it. But the bus network and FrontRunner leave a great deal to be desired. I focus on FrontRunner.
It needs to be less of a presumed premium service and more of a TRAX-like workhorse. Here’s how:
Match the Bamberger Railroad’s performance during the year of say, 1948, between Salt Lake and Ogden: half-hour frequency, up to 18 stops, with an hour overall transit time between the two cities. This is a performance FrontRunner should be able to match. It needs to be a workhorse in its own right, less dependent on slow, unreliable bus connections.
