Letter: Herbert dragged Utahns down with contempt of judge

Recently I listened to a long interview with Gov. Gary Herbert on KUED’s RadioWest. Over and over he referred to Judge Robert Shelby only as "Shelby." Never once did he preface that name with the judge’s title. In so doing, Herbert made his contempt for the judge obvious to one and all ("Judge denies Utah AG’s request to halt same-sex marriages," Tribune, Dec. 23).
Coming from someone who on paper represents all Utahns, I find the governor’s behavior despicable. Symbolically, he dragged all of us down to his level.
