Often I read that the Declaration of Independence gives us the right to health insurance from our government with the statement, "…life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." My interpretation is different.
Life was not to be infringed upon by government or a king. Individuals should have the liberty to make choices rather than the governing body. You choose how you will pursue happiness.
The Constitution governs our country. This amazing document was intended to minimize characteristics that would constrain our life and liberty, and thus our pursuit of happiness. Health care is a choice made by liberated individuals, not the government.
