How painful it must be to suffer the indignities of a Greek Orthodox priest being laid off over mere financial matters, especially when a solution is within reach ("Greek Orthodox council moves to dismiss one of its priests," Tribune, Jan. 2).

All the Orthodox Church needs to do is levy a 10 percent, perpetual fee on its members' total lifetime incomes. That should easily enable them to build $2 billion shopping centers with abandon.
