Letter: Too bad Utah has no state attorney who knows Constitution
First Published Jan 08 2014 01:01 am • Last Updated Jan 08 2014 03:14 pm

It’s sad that we have not one lawyer in the Utah Attorney General’s Office who has the fortitude to step up and acknowledge the fact that Amendment 3 is unconstitutional. You can’t deny people the same rights that other people enjoy. You can’t pick and choose who and why you give certain people certain rights and deny other people those same rights.

The right to pursue happiness that the Constitution protects is not limited to any one group of citizens. I never attended law school, but there is no doubt in my mind that Amendment 3 is unconstitutional.

Were the lawyers in the AG’s office sleeping or absent the day the rest of the class was studying the Constitution? Have they all bought into the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil culture that seems to have infested the AG’s office and is being perpetuated by the newly appointed AG?

Hold onto your wallets, taxpayers, and enjoy the ride.
