Letter: Why can't new AG handle same-sex marriage appeal?
This is an archived article that was published on sltrib.com in 2014, and information in the article may be outdated. It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted.

So what is the deal that the new attorney general and all his staff are not competent enough as attorneys to file an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court ("New Utah AG: Cost to defend same-sex marriage ban is worthwhile," Tribune, Dec. 31)? They need to hire an outside firm and even one out of state and spend $2 million of taxpayers' money to have someone else do it.

These people should be able to do this and put our tax dollars to better use.
