So an audit shows widespread theft, poor customer service and unaccountability in the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Imagine that ("Utah audit details multiple 'weaknesses' in liquor system," Tribune, Nov. 27).

If I were a Republican, I'd be screaming at the top of my lungs about how the state has no business being in the liquor business. This is just another example of government not being able to do something as well as the private sector. Why can't we buy our booze at Trader Joe's or Walmart or Harmon's? After all, Republicans say we should be privatizing the prison, but when it comes to getting the state out of the booze business? Crickets.

Hypocrisy, thy name is the Utah Legislature.
