I'm not a member of the NRA, I've never voted for a Republican and I'm not religious. However I own firearms and will continue to do so, not because I feel that someone will break in my home as Roger Carrier believes ("Most people should not own guns; they lead to heartbreak," Forum, Nov. 21) but because in this great country we have the right to do so.

I believe that the rights we have in the Constitution make this country unique and if you start letting people take those rights away because some nutjob does something crazy then pretty soon we're not going to have any rights left. So even if you don't own a firearm you better start supporting the Second Amendment because sooner or later someone will get around to taking away the rights that do matter to you!
