I found the open letter (full-page ad) in Wednesday's Trib from the "Members of the Faith Community of Utah" revealing: The authors of the letter seem truly concerned about the thousands of people living in Utah who can't afford health care but could afford it if the governor accepted the expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act and let the federal government help finance that expansion.
I then read (and have since read twice) the names of those in the "Faith Community of Utah," and found not one member of the LDS Church listed. One must conclude either that the "Faith Community," as an oversight, forgot to ask the predominant faith in Utah to sign the letter or that the members of that predominant faith, when asked, refused to sign the letter. Interesting.
And can anyone imagine Gov. Herbert not pushing for the expansion of Medicaid if the name of even one of the leaders of the Mormon faith was on that letter?
