Thirty-nine states have banned medical-waste incineration and eight of them ship their waste to North Salt Lake. Yet Gov. Gary Herbert is spending hard-earned Utah tax dollars to study if burning medical waste happens to be safe in Utah — in the middle of a housing development, no less. What is more, there are also five schools within a mile of the facility ("Healthy-air advocates call for Stericycle boycott," Tribune, Nov. 14).

If I didn't know better, I'd think either the governor is naïve or willing to do almost anything for business. Stop stalling, Gov. Herbert!
