We awoke Saturday to find Friday's edition of The Salt Lake Tribune on our porch. A call to MediaOne Customer Service was a real eye-opener. Delivery problems not called in by 8 a.m. on weekends means we don't get that day's paper.

A chat with a MediaOne representative went nowhere. After talking to a supervisor, the message to long-time subscribers became clear: Your business means nothing to us.

We've taken The Tribune since the 1980s and revere the print edition. Making sure we have the paper every morning is important enough that we give a hefty tip to our carrier for porch delivery so we're not dealing with the water-logged one most people get on rainy and snowy days.

The Tribune is our paper. We take it for the independent, local news. There's no other option for non-biased reporting of issues that cover Utah and the Intermountain region. My call to MediaOne spoke volumes. Print subscribers are second-class and should be reading online editions.

MediaOne said it'd send a request to have Saturday's paper delivered, and that there was a "50-50" chance we'd get one. Guess that's fair since MediaOne's dedication to loyal print subscribers is only half-baked.
