I urge everyone to contact Gov. Gary Herbert’s office and urge him to "do what is right — let the consequence follow." He is the only Utah official who can extend Medicaid to cover 123,000 uninsured Utahns.
It would not cost Utah a dime. In fact, it is money that Utah taxpayers have already sent to Washington, and if we don’t take it back it will go to neighboring states that are smarter than we are. This would be a nearly half-billion-dollar boost for our economy. More doctors, nurses and health practitioners will be needed. Get out your calculator and run the "economic multiplier."
If that doesn’t move you, Governor, then at least do it for humanitarian reasons. Our poor do not have health care and many are suffering. I have yet to hear one good reason not to extend Medicaid. Please tell us what we are missing! It’s time to man up and quit running and hiding because you are afraid of the politics.
Gov. Herbert, how can you sleep at night or go to church on Sunday knowing you are delaying and possibly preventing health care for 123,000 needy Utahns?
