A recent Forum letter ("Lee, Cruz don't understand the basics," Forum, Oct. 20) referenced the logic and correctness of two ingrained principles learned in business addressing the incorrectness of shutting down the government and not paying their bills.

One principle stated "when you promise to pay for something, you pay for it." How about another rule stating that you should not spend more than you make? Continuing to pay your bills with borrowed money certainly is not logical or sustainable.

It does not take a business degree to understand the incorrectness of that.
