Citing information provided as part of the 2010 Census, it was noted recently that the redistricting of legislative districts by Republicans has and is resulting in an older, whiter and less educated constituency. Also noted in that census, non-white citizens will soon outnumber the white population.

This is the crux of the problem with the Republican party. They have no vision. Instead of embracing all by broadening their appeal through reasonable beliefs, they create compact little areas of safety that will, at some point, disappear (except in a little town in North Dakota).

However, the part that should be the most concerning is the "less educated" part of the finding. Is it that the only key to their survival is an ignorant following?

As an example of this, I was speaking with an acquaintance — a staunch Right Winger and, yes, older and white — about the ACA, I asked him on three different occasions what, specifically, he didn't like about the ACA, his answer every time was "everything." When I pushed him for details, he could not provide a single item.

So, I guess it's true, ignorance is bliss, especially for the Republican party.
