Everybody seems to think that the Republicans will be the big losers if they precipitate a government shutdown through their intransigence on the current budget proposal and ACA.

Considering that Congress has the most powerful influence over the economy of all government bodies — including the Fed and the SEC — doesn't it force us to ask who will profit from the looming shutdown? Who will be the big winners?

I wonder how many members of Congress, of both parties, have taken short positions in the stock market and have advised their cronies to do likewise.
