What a juxtaposition!

Ken Burns' six-part series, "The National Parks: America's Best Idea," is airing on KUED. The emphasis is on conserving our beautiful national landmarks as a national resource.

As this is occurring, we have SITLA — the state School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration — clandestinely transferring mineral rights to Anadarko in the Book Cliffs, a beautiful state treasure. Is that not delicious irony at a high level, or low level? Take your pick!

If one wonders why it is not appropriate to give the state ownership and control of our nation's wilderness, we need look no further.
