Republicans and Democrats in the Senate deserve praise for passing immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for nearly 11 million Americans without papers. The House of Representatives should be next, but a tiny handful of Republicans are standing in the way of a vote.

I think this is unacceptable to the millions of immigrants in our country who want citizenship. The path to citizenship already has the support of a majority of the House, and it's hurting our country to keep so many people living in the shadows.

I hope Congress follows the will of the American public and passes immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for 11 million Americans without papers. It's the right thing to do.
