Former Attorney General Mark Shurtleff owes apologies to the following people: Deb Brown; Deb Brown's family; every taxpayer in the state of Utah.
When Brown's murder conviction was overturned after she spent the better part of two decades wrongfully imprisoned, Shurtleff insisted on using the power of his office to carry a state appeal to the Utah Supreme Court. Now that the Supreme Court has upheld Brown's factual innocence, Shurtleff should apologize for his contribution to government waste, his lack of humanity and compassion and, most of all, a lack of common sense.
At this point, apologizing is the least he can do.
