I thank Dr. Jancie Byrne for her letter, "Ovarian cancer" (Forum, May 10). I hope to see more media attention and fundraising to battle all kinds of cancer.

I, too, had ovarian cancer, stage 4. I had three tumors in my ovaries, stomach and liver. People thought I was a goner.

I had a great primary care doctor who discovered the tumors and sent me to the specialists. I had my operation and six chemo treatments. As of now, I am cancer free.

I thank the doctors, my loving husband, family and friends, and most of all, prayer and optimism. These things can get a person through anything.

I received my diagnosis late, but I survived and am determined to live a much longer, happy life.
