Heavenly mother
This is an archived article that was published on sltrib.com in 2013, and information in the article may be outdated. It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted.

I enjoyed Peggy Stack's "A Mormon mystery returns: Who is Heavenly Mother?" (Tribune, May 11). Recognizing a co-creator of our spiritual bodies makes sense.

The suggestion that the Heavenly Mother is the Holy Ghost does not take into consideration the Mormon belief that our Heavenly Father was once a man like us who lived on an earth like ours and apparently married a woman like us in a celestial temple ceremony, which is a requirement to become a god and have the ability to procreate after physical death.

However, a far greater question is how our Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother sired the 80 billion-plus spirits who have lived upon Earth, the 40 billion-plus who rebelled with Satan, and the far greater number of spirits who LDS scripture say inhabit the "worlds without number" that Heavenly Father created (Moses 1:33).

Perhaps another article should explain that issue and the involvement of the Heavenly Mother in the creation of this Earth and the creation of Adam and Eve and all other animal and plant life.
