Fifty percent of girls ages 11-13 see themselves as overweight. I bet many see themselves as overweight because of what the media think is beautiful. This idea of a skinny person being beautiful has been engraved on our brains since we were born.

For example, a lot of girls own a Barbie, even 20 Barbies. They have been looking at images of skinny girls their whole lives, and as they grow older, it just gets worse and worse.

As a country, we need to work on making young girls more confident about themselves by featuring healthy-looking girls in the media.
