With their self-serving, greedy reasoning that illegal aliens should be rewarded with amnesty for their violation of our sovereign laws, the eight Utah chambers of commerce have completely fallen out of their trees ("Salt Lake Chamber leader Beattie blasts Utah senators on immigration," Tribune, April 10).

It's beyond all reality that granting people who willfully violated our borders be given the right to vote. This is an insult to our legal system, where we are to comply with the rule of law.

They should never be rewarded with that sacred sovereign right of legal folks, or we will be kissing America good-bye.

America should be smart enough to learn from our past mistakes. If our representatives feel the need to bring undocumented immigrants out of the shadows by having those without other criminal records pay some serious penalties, then they may grant some type of legal status.

But the illegal immigrants should never, as long as they live, be given that sacred right to vote.
