I got a chuckle from Dale Curtis' "Twain and Congress" (Forum, April 9). Curtis correctly notes that people are losing their jobs due to congressional inactivity, that workers are being furloughed and the economy is barely moving forward.
Noting that Congress is busy finger-pointing and name-calling, he quotes Mark Twain, "Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear," and chides members of Congress to solve the problems they were elected to solve.
I wholeheartedly agree with Curtis on the shortcomings of Congress, most especially with the abhorrent representation Utahns receive from our elected representatives. But he misses the mark with the quote. A more appropriate Twain quote would be: "Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."
