Sen. Mike Lee seems awfully concerned with newly confirmed Interior Secretary Sally Jewell's previous spot on the board of the National Parks Conservation Association and its 54 lawsuits against the federal government, so he voted against her nomination ("Senate confirms Jewell for Interior," Tribune, April 11).

However, I seriously doubt that the good senator had any concerns with accepting more than $150,000 in campaign contributions from extractive industries that in recent times have sued the federal government in Utah just as often as the environmental community.

Such specious concerns may make nice sound bites, but in reality they demonstrate that Lee continues to be nothing more than a shallow, nattering nabob of negativism.
