Home at last • There are far too many veterans who are without a place to call home. Happily, that will change for one group who will move into apartments in Valor House next week. The $4.5 million energy-efficient complex for homeless vets was built through a partnership between the federal Department of Veterans Affairs and the Salt Lake City Housing Authority. It will provide 72 apartments and 12 community kitchens for some of those who have served their country.

Jail time for 2 • Colton Raines and Robert Cole Boyer rightly received the maximum sentence for their involvement in a boating accident that killed swimmer Esther Fujimoto. The time the two will spend in jail is little enough considering their disregard for Fujimoto's suffering and ultimate death after their boat struck her.
