So Rep. Chris Stewart is skeptical about climate change ("Stewart not sold on climate threat," Tribune, March 20). The whole Utah Legislature could use a healthy dose of the STEM education (science, technology, engineering and math).

State legislators tout STEM for our schools, discuss having a STEM czar, say STEM education will keep us competitive in the future for business. But sadly, they do not seem to buy into scientific evidence themselves.

If they would educate themselves about science, technology, engineering and math, they might have less fear of the Core Curriculum, better understand the need to protect our environment, see how we are interconnected with nature and realize the Core Curriculum is not a federal conspiracy to brainwash our children, but a key to our future success as a state and a nation.

I was glad to see the editorial, "Not Stewart: Utah congressman denies reality" (Our View, March 23).
