I don't know whether Utah should build a new prison (not that they'd listen to me anyway — business is business, after all), but having had my share of incarcerations, I must comment on the ridiculous measures Dee-Ann Dossi proposed in "No new prison" (Forum, March 17).

Her message was: "Keep prisons like they were intended to be … not a resort stay." If she calls "luxurious" living in a place where you are always hungry and cold, where you are constantly under threat of physical attack by your paranoid and violent cellmate, and where you cannot leave, where does Dossi vacation?

The average prisoner eats better "than most on the outside eat"? Where has she been eating? Try the prison diet for a while; it will open your eyes.

I promise, two days in a "prison resort" would change your life.
